Pirtek Field Mechanics replace hydraulic hoses and other fluid related products on customer equipment at the customer's site. Each technician has an assigned territory where they build and maintain customer relationships. This includes determining the cause of leaks, replacing hoses, visiting the customer's shop to determine their needs, and explaining what we do to potential customers.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical repair work: Remove and replace hoses and tubing from light and heavy construction and manufacturing equipment.
  • Building and maintaining customer relationships: Visit customers, determine their needs, and explain our services.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year experience in a trade involving mechanical repair or assembly
  • Valid driver's license and must meet the standards to be insured by the company's insurance carrier
  • Ability to park commercial van near your home
  • Own hand tools

Preferred:

  • Three years of experience in a trade with skills and knowledge of hydraulic hose and/or tubing installation and repair
  • Three years of experience in a customer-facing role, such as customer service or sales
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with mechanical or hydraulic equipment

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and apply concepts and prior knowledge in unfamiliar situations
  • Must be able to effectively communicate the benefits and value of the company's services to customers.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers at all levels and with immediate supervisor.
  • Must have the ability to develop rapport with customers and become a problem-solving source for the customer.
  • Must be able to allocate time and effort in a manner most suited to effectively accomplish goals.
  • Must be able to measure and to understand and calculate quantities and prices.
  • English proficiency, both verbally and in writing, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees. Must be able to read and prepare routine business forms pertaining to the projects and sales activities.

Physical:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must also be able to squat, kneel, crouch and reach over head. The person in this position is required to work in close quarters on equipment and machinery and must be able to maneuver body positions to reach work areas.  Must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands and fingers.
  • Must have the agility to negotiate within the Mobile Service van and the areas where work is performed at customer sites. Must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds.
  • Must have the full use of eyes including close vision.
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.

Mental:

  • Must be able to measure and to understand and calculate quantities and prices.
  • English proficiency, both verbally and in writing, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees. Must be able to read and prepare routine business forms pertaining to the projects and sales activities. Must have a command of technical and safety terminology in the English language.

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed primarily at customer sites. Some areas may be congested, loud, dirty and subject to changing climatic conditions. This position requires travel by company vehicle, which entails routine traffic hazards.
  • Eight-hour workdays are required during the week. Additional hours, at any time after hours, may be required as dictated by the necessity to meet customer requirements. This position is required to be on call and available 24/7 for two consecutive weeks on a regular rotation.
  • The person in this position is required to provide his or her own hand tools needed to perform the work required. Tool list available on request.
